NOT TO BE SNEEZED AT

Knocking back a G&T to deal with a runny nose and more sober ways to tackle hay fever

From budget to luxury - keep those lashes looking luscious this season

LISTEN up hay fever sufferers – one way to combat the runny nose and sneezing is to knock back a gin and tonic.

While most alcohol contains histamine and sulphites that trigger symptoms, gin doesn’t.

Today, I look at more sober ways to tackle hay fever and test lashes to keep your eyes looking great, even if they are a bit red.

HEALTH

BALM: Haymax (£6.99) is an organic, drug-free allergen barrier that stops pollen entering the body by trapping it when you apply a small amount of the balm to your nostrils.

It’s a bit messy but after a few hours there is no doubt hay fever symptoms subside.

It’s a shame you keep having to reapply it every time you blow your nose, though. See .

BAND: The Qu-Chi (£12.95) is based on the idea of acupuncture, you rest this simple armband with a tiny piece of marble on the crook of your elbow.

It comes in a range of colours but looks a bit garish if your arms are on display.

My hay fever was horrendous when I wore this band but I did feel less bunged up the day after.

Clunky, but worth a go if you’re sick of modern remedies. Visit .

EYE DROPS: Eyelergy (£9.90) creates a protective barrier of gel that shields the eyes from pollen.

I’ve gone through my fair share of eye drops in the past but this was certainly soothing.

If you can crack how to drop the solution into your eyes easily, you’ll love this cooling remedy.

It definitely worked for me. See.

BEAUTY

BUDGET – Nouveau Lashes Natural/Style 3 (£4.95, ): Synthetic and vegan-friendly, these lashes promise to add length and look natural.

They were hard to apply as the adhesive didn’t seem strong enough and they didn’t stay curved along my lash line.

A nice, natural look but the glue let them down.

MID-RANGE – Ardell Wispies (£5.49, ): Made from human hair and knotted and feathered by hand.

Perfect for daytime wear but full enough for a more dramatic look that can be dressed up with eye make-up.

They come with a great adhesive and have a thin, lightweight band that stays curved.

Application was super-quick and easy. I used the same pair five times. Definitely my favourite.

LUXURY – Pinky Goat Dania Natural Lashes (£9, ): Handcrafted from human hair, these lightweight lashes give a natural look.

They were easy to apply and looked as if they were my own.

They don’t come with glue though and at £9 a pop for the lashes plus £8 for the GlueMe adhesive, they’re pricey.
