Emotional mum reveals Nando’s gave her family a meal for free to celebrate end of sick son’s hospital treatment

Zara Ann Ransley's one-year-old son Roman had just had his last hospital treatment for his rare condition

A MUM said she was “overwhelmed” when Nando’s gave her family a free meal as they returned from hospital with their one-year-old son.

Zara Ann Ransley, from Ramsgate in Kent, visited the Sevenoaks restaurant with son Roman, following his last treatment for his rare condition, torticollis.

Little Roman was born with torticollis, which means his head hangs slightly to the left and he has been unable to fully support his head.

Zara said that the family visit the grilled chicken chain bi-monthly after their son’s appointments, but this occasion was a particularly special one.

The family were overjoyed that their son had come to the end of his tough medical treatment, and they couldn’t help but share their good news with their waitress Jo.

Their day was made even better when they were told that they didn’t need to pay a penny for their meals, which came to £32.75.

Their entire bill had been paid in full and marked a “random act of kindness,” leaving a touched Zara “unable to speak”.

She immediately took to the company’s to share her gratitude.

She wrote: “Would just like to say what amazing staff you have at the Sevenoaks Nando's.

“We went there today with our baby boy, which we do monthly. We travel to Sevenoaks for private health treatment for our son.

“Today was an extra special day as the treatment has now finished and we had brilliant results from this.

“We arrived at the restaurant after his appointment and was explaining to the waitress, Jo, why we was in such good spirits.

“She was amazed at our story and congratulated us.

“We then placed our order and went to pay and she explained that the restaurant will take care of our bill as they wanted us to enjoy this moment.

“Thank you to Jo and everyone who works at the Sevenoaks restaurant. X”

Their story struck a chord with Nando’s fans who saw the post, and over 40,000 people have reacted to it on Facebook.

One user said: “Good service from a chain restaurant makes a refreshing change.”

Another commented: “Small things do matter glad your little boy [is] doing well and well done Nandos.”

The nice gesture was the latest in a string of random acts of kindness that have been captivating the internet.

In May, seven-year-old cerebral palsy sufferer Harry Parker was given the £45k gift of walking by total stranger whose huge donation made the life-changing operation possible.

And last year a generous customer left their waiter a huge $500 tip as a reward for a random act of kindness the day before.
