Barclays is handing out free cash to anyone who buys a coffee from its travelling van in these THREE locations

The van will give anyone that buys a £3 breakfast their food, plus £7 cashback for free

BARCLAYS Bank is handing out free cash to anyone who buys a coffee and croissant from its travelling van this week.

The vehicle will be in London's Covent Garden piazza today and Wednesday, before making its way to locations in Manchester and Edinburgh.

It will be at the locations between 8am and 10am each day, so commuters can pick up a £3 breakfast - a coffee and a croissant - and they will be handed back £7 in return.

So while customers will have to spend £3, they'll get their breakfast and £7 for free.

The breakfast deal mirrors Barclays' blue rewards scheme – where current account customers pay a £3 monthly fee, in exchange for £7 in loyalty rewards each month.

The scheme launched in 2015, but is available to new and existing customers.

You'll have to pay in at least £800 a month into your bank account, as well as the monthly fee, but in return you'll get at least £7 back a month - a profit of £4 a month after the fee, or almost £50 over the year.

Catherine McGrath of Barclays said: “We’re looking forward to brightening up commuters’ mornings – sending the van across the UK to show that some deals are good enough to be true."

Barclays is hoping that the stunt will get rid of people's "offer phobia", as research shows that Brits are missing out on an average £520 every year by not taking advantage of deals.

This is because most people (39 per cent) think there could be a hidden catch, while others fear being tied into something.

The Barclays breakfast van will be appearing at three locations across the UK this week, including: London's Covent Garden Piazza (April 25-26), Unit 14 Barton Arcade in Manchester (April 27) and 63A Cockburn Street in Edinburgh (April 28), between 8am and 10am.
