Fed up of having a purse stuffed with loyalty cards? Free app means you don’t have to carry them with you
IF you want to de-clutter your purse, there's a free app that will store all of your loyalty cards in one place.
Whether you have a Tesco Clubcard, Sainsbury's Nectar card, Costa Coffee Club card or myWaitrose card, the app will hold them all in a virtual wallet.
The Stocard app - which is available on and - lets you scan your loyalty card barcode on your mobile (this only takes a few seconds) - which it logs, then you present it in store at the checkout.
There are more than 200 preset loyalty cards - Matalan, Ikea Family, Boots Advantage etc. - on the app, but if you have one that's not on there, you can add it in as an "other loyalty card".
While the app has received generally positive reviews - it's rated 4.5/5 stars on iTunes - some people have complained that the app doesn't scan properly at the tills.

One MoneySavingExpert.com forum user wrote: "Doesn't work in my local Boots, Co-op, Tesco, Sainsbury's, or Superdrug.
"Waste of time in my opinion, I have to still carry my cards around as staff don't always have time to manually type in every time."
Another wrote: "I've had the Stocard app for ages but it doesn't work on the Tesco or Sainsbury's self-service till scanners at the branches near me."
Stocard explains that this issue is because several stores still use outdated scanner technologies (laser or flatbed scanners instead of image scanners), which cannot read smartphone displays.
"In this case simply ask the cashier to type in your loyalty card number manually," the firm said.

One of the UK's most popular loyalty schemes is Sainsbury’s Nectar card, which lets customers earn and spend points at over 500 brands.
