Five savvy ways to get that spa-fresh feeling at home without breaking the bank

CHASING that spa-fresh feeling without cleaning out your bank account?
You don’t need to splurge to get super clean at home.
Follow these tricks from the viral #showertok trend . .
SOAP SIMPLE: According to the viral craze, washing with soap is the best way to get clean. Pick up a double pack of Dettol antibacterial soap at Superdrug for £1.99. It lasts ages.
Another trick is to save any last slivers of soap in a pot, cover with boiling water, stir until they melt, then leave to set. Once cool, pop it out and you have another soap bar to use.
SCRUB LOVE: Get super-soft skin by exfoliating with a homemade scrub using ingredients from your kitchen cupboard.
Save leftover coffee grounds and mix a tablespoon with a teaspoon of coconut oil to create a DIY scrub.
Or mix coconut oil or honey with a teaspoon of coarse salt or sugar. Slough over damp skin in the shower and rinse.
CLOTH SAVER: African net sponges or wash cloths have become popular for their superior cleaning and exfoliating abilities — but don’t be duped by cheap fakes.
A real net will have double knots that offer that extra scrubbing ability. Pick one up for £17.99 from the Bellanomi store via Amazon.co.uk or get one for £9.45 at africanfabs.co.uk, which also offers cloths with small flaws from £5.13 as a more affordable option.
Lather up your cloth with soap and unravel the fabric before rubbing over the skin for great cleaning.
CRAFTY PLAN: No loofah? No problem. Just cut an old T-shirt or top into strips, tie in the middle with one of the pieces, and fluff out for a zero-waste shower puff. It’s cheap to make and better for the environment than buying new.
WATER GOOD IDEA: Following soap and scrubbing, lather up with your usual shower gel. But if you want to make it go a little further, try diluting yours with a 50-50 ratio of gel to water.
