Lidl has a new retro wooden toy range and the prices start at £3.99

FORGET gadgets and interactive dolls, Lidl has just launched a collection of traditional wooden toys and prices start at just £3.99.

The retro collection launched in stores this week and it will be available while stocks last.

Highlights include a miniature wooden play kitchen for £50 but also cheaper options like a fun retro puzzle with cute farm animals for less than £4.

Kids can also whizz around the house on the colourful wooden tricycle or spend their time on Lidl's rocking horse - which are both available for £24.99

If you're still stuck for ideas for Christmas, the collection also features great stocking fillers.

These include a set of wooden dolls, which are available for £5.99 each as well as an array of wooden food priced at £5.99 for a set.

A play cookware set, ideal for role play games and catering make believe guests, is also available for £7.99.

But Lidl is not the only retailer offering cute wooden toys this year and it's also not the cheapest one.

A large wooden kitchen set at rival Aldi is available for £29.99.

That's more than 70 per cent cheaper than John Lewis' Country Play Wooden Kitchen, which costs £125.

It's also £20 cheaper than Lidl's wooden play kitchen, although Aldi's version is smaller and comes with less storage space.

Meanwhile, Asda's George Home Wooden Deluxe Kitchen was recently reduced to £32 from its original price of £40 also beating Lidl's offer.

If your kids are not into retro toys there are other solutions.

To help bargain hunting parents, B&M released a list of affordable top toys that it claims are cheaper version of this year's wallet busters.

Toy store Hamleys also released its top stocking fillings and they all cost under £5.
