EE has made a MASSIVE change to its tariffs – and it could be good news for customers
Existing customers can switch over to one of the new deals without starting a new contract

MOBILE phone giant EE has made a massive change to the types of tariffs it offers customers in a bid to offer more simplified pricing.
As part of the new deals customers can create a package of calls, texts and data that works for them.
The tariffs deals will be available to new or upgrading customers.
Existing customers don't need to do anything if they don't want their bills to change.
Customers on SIM Only and Essential plans can also add on extras.
For example, there's an option to add BT Sport for £5 a month on a rolling 30-day contract.
What's changing to EE tariffs?
EE wants to simplify the tariffs it offers customers. Here's what's changing:
- EE Max Plans - New plan offering fastest speeds and unlimited minutes, texts and up to 60GB data allowance. Get it for £50 per month on 24-month plan with Samsung Galaxy S8 handset and unlimited calls, texts and 8GB data.
- EE Essential Plans - Start at just £15 per month, unlimited texts and calls. Get the Hawk Android handset for just £15 per month, on a 24-month plan which offers unlimited calls, texts and 500MB data.
- SIM Only plans - Get up to 40GB data with unlimited minutes texts and calls.
New add ons for Essential and SIM only customers
- Go Faster – providing customers wanting access to EE’s fastest 4G speeds for just £2 per month (30 day rolling plan)
- BT Sport app – allowing customers to watch the best live sporting action on their phone is available for £5 per month (30 day rolling plan)
- Go Further – so customers can use their call, text and data allowances in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand for £10 per month
Or they can access EE's fastest 4G internet speeds for £2 a month on a 30 day rolling plan.
It comes after three of the UK's largest mobile phone firms - including EE and Vodafone and Three - were slammed by Citizens Advice for overcharging customers up to £450 a year after they've paid off their handset.
All EE customers automatically get free access to a number of extras, including free Apple music and three month free BT Sport.
Ernest Doku, mobiles expert at uSwitch.com, said: "EE's plans to simplify its pricing structure for customers sees the provider following in the footsteps of the likes of Three.
"The newly ordained Essential, Max and SIM-Only plans hand customers the flexibility they need to create the package that works best for them - whether that's adding on access to EE's souped-up 4G network or beefing up their roaming package with the Go Further add-on.
How to get the best mobile phone deal
USE a comparison website like Billmonitor which compares your previous bill to work out how much you're actually using.
You’ll need to sign in using your details from your online mobile account.
It only works for customers of EE, O2, Tesco Mobile, Three and Vodafone.
Another similar comparison tool, MobilePhoneChecker has a similar feature to Billmonitor but it’s not as comprehensive.
Once you've found the best deal check Cashback websites like Quidco and TopCashback to find out if they can save you money.
Work out the total cost of the contract including the handset to see if it's a good deal.
"This move is another sign that the UK's providers are starting to acknowledge customers' shift towards greater freedom, flexibility and transparency in their mobile packages - and away from the historically rigid boundaries imposed by traditional pay-monthly contracts."
He warned that customers should always check whether they are getting the best deal before switching.
The mobile expert added: "It's also worth weighing up, once these extras have all been added, whether you really are getting the best deal - as always, before you jump in it's worth checking that you definitely need these add-ons and they offer good value or if there are better, more-suited deals on the market to be had."
