DELIVER THE GOODS

You can now get Greggs delivered to your door with Just Eat – but only in three cities

SAUSAGE roll lovers can now get Greggs delivered to their homes on the Just Eat app.

The national bakery chain has announced it will roll out delivery in three UK cities - Glasgow, London and Newcastle.

Greggs is also already available on food delivery app Deliveroo in Birmingham, Bristol, London and Newcastle following an initial roll-out in the capital in November.

In 2017, Greggs also trialled a delivery service with Uber Eats in Newcastle, but this has since been dropped from the platform.

The delivery service on Just Eat is available from nine branches across the three cities - East Ham, Elephant and Castle, and Whitechapel in London, Dumbarton Road, Gordon Street, and Victoria Road in Glasgow, and Byker, St Mary's Place, and Gosforth High Street in Newcastle.

It's rolled out as part of a trial, but Just Eat hopes to launch it to further cities if it's successful, it told The Sun.

Available from today, the new partnership means fans of Greggs can order their favourites, including breakfast, hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, bakes and sausage rolls.

There's no minimum spend and Just Eat is also offering free delivery from all nine branches until September 25.

But the free delivery could be dropped before then or could also be extended, the delivery firm told The Sun.

We've asked how much Just Eat usually charges for delivery, and will update this article as soon as we hear back.

Deliveroo charges users a delivery fee of £3 on average, although the exact amount varies depending on your location.

Or if you've signed up to Deliveroo Plus and pay the monthly £11.49 fee, you'll get free delivery on all orders.

The food delivery app operates from 11 of the bakery chain's branches across the four cities.

Greggs also runs its own delivery service in Newcastle and Manchester, but this is aimed at office workers ordering bulk lunchtime delivery orders - and there's a minimum £25 order limit.

Graham Corfield of Just Eat said: "We’re delighted to welcome Greggs to Just Eat bringing customers even more of their favourite food brands at the tap of the app."

Hannah Squirrell, customer director at Greggs, added: "We’re thrilled to be working with Just Eat to make it even easier for our customers to enjoy their breakfast and lunch menu favourites.

"From bacon rolls and coffees to our range of bakes, sandwiches and wraps, we’ll be able to go direct to the doorsteps of more than a million hungry households."

In January, Greggs launched its vegan sausage roll and it led to clashes with Piers Morgan.

A month earlier, the chain also hiked prices of its most popular items by more than 5 per cent.

The £1billion bakery chain was founded by Geordie John Gregg, who delivered bread on council estates.
