McDonald’s customers feel ‘conned’ after missing out on clothing plugged by Love Island’s Maura Higgins

MCDONALD’S customers have been left outraged after missing out on limited edition burger-themed loungewear.
The fast food chain was giving out 10,000 items of Maccies clothing for free when diners placed an order with UberEats last night.
The new clothing received plenty of attention on social media after it was plugged by the likes of Love Island stars Maura Higgins and Tommy Fury.
Georgie Shore's Vicky Pattison was also among showbiz stars advertising the fast food chain.
McDonald’s was handing out a cosy Big Mac blanket, as well as pairs of fuzzy burger and fries socks.
There was also pairs of Maccies themed leggings up for grabs.
All you had to do to be within a chance of getting something was use a special code for free delivery on the UberEats app between 5pm and 7pm.
But with limited items up for grabs, plenty of customers were left disappointed when they weren't one of the lucky ones.
One person said: “I’ve been conned by the great McDonald’s scam of 2019 #McDelivery.”
Another McDonald’s fan added: “Ordered and nothing! And reading replies no one else did either pure scam.”
Someone else posted: “So annoyed! Bet all the clothes that were given out are on eBay now.”
While another said: “Devastated I didn’t get any of this awesome merch in my order tonight. Ah well, was worth a try.”
But all might not be lost for McDonald's fans as the fast food giant told us a few more pieces of merchandise will be sent out over the coming days.
Although, the majority of the 10,000 items went last night so your chances of getting something will be slimmer.
McDonald's said: “Thousands of customers received a surprise in their McDelivery orders last night, however we know how popular the limited edition merchandise has been and are sorry that some customers were disappointed not to receive any.
“This was the most amount of merchandise we’ve ever distributed in the UK and Ireland so we are delighted to see so many customers sharing their McDelivery socks and more on social media.”
Reps for Maura, Tommy and Vicky declined to comment.
McDonald's ran a similar stunt two years ago when it delivered adult-sized Big Mac onesies to customers' doors.
MORE ON MONEY
McDonald's often treats fans with giveaways and just last week the restaurant offered customers free McMuffins with any hot drink order on the app.
It also recently gave away free cheeseburgers for new customers who signed up to the app.
Last month we revealed how McDonald's is ditching its posh Signature Collection burgers off its menu.
