The most outrageous repair bills UK drivers have faced – from a £12,000 gearbox to £22,000 for a new engine

A SERVICE at your local garage can be a costly exercise for many drivers, especially if you haven't been looking after your motor.
But spare a thought for these Brits who have raked up some of the largest repair bills in the past 12 months.
A recent breakdown by MotorEasy has revealed the most expensive repairs costs for 11 different parts of a motor this year.
Shockingly, the combined costs of the all parts and labour fees total a staggering £65,000 - almost the same as a brand new Range Rover Sport.
An unlucky Brit was forced to fork out a £22,655 to fix the engine in his 2012 BMW 5 Series.
Depending on your vehicle, it can often be cheaper to purchase a new car than it can be to replace or fix the engine.
One driver spent a whopping £12,000 to repair a gear box in a 2014 Jeep Cherokee, while another paid almost £10,000 for the turbo to be fixed in their Land Rover.
Even everyday runaround cars can be costly to keep on the road, with a braking system in a Ford Focus costing an owner £1,061.
While it might seem inexpensive to fix, one British motorist spent a whopping £3,000 to fix the air conditioning in their motor.
Duncan McClure Fisher, founder of MotorEasy, said: "Our advice, whether you're leasing or purchasing a vehicle outright, is to make sure you're not at the very limit of your budget - because hefty repair bills can, and often do, sideswipe you.
