Electric cars nearly 40% MORE expensive than three years ago – here are the biggest climbers

ELECTRIC cars are nearly 40 per cent more expensive than three years ago, according to a new study.
The data shows an incredible surge in prices of the vehicles - but some brands have jumped in price more than others.
The research carried out by car finance brand Moneybarn shows that the biggest climbers were the Renault Zoe.
In 2019 the electric car brand cost £21,920 but this year the price had leapt to £30,495.
The incredible rise represented an increase of £8,575 for unlucky car buyers.
Back in 2012, the same car would have only have costed £13,650.

The worst rise from Elon Musk's car fleet came from the Tesla Model S, which has gone from costing £71,700 in 2019 to £94,990 in 2022.
This contrasts against the Hyundai Ioniq Electric, which ranked fifth in the list.
