I was fined for driving a white car in a bus lane – but I know it couldn’t have been me

A MOTORIST was left fuming after being fined for driving a white car in a bus lane - when they had hired a black car.
The anonymous driver said that they were slapped with a £60 penalty charge notice (PCN) for driving in the bus lane in Aberdeen, Scotland.
And the motorist was left scratching their head at the fine because the car they were driving was clearly black.
They had hired the black rental car from Enterprise after previously being in an accident.
To make matters worse, the driver was also left baffled by the fact that they were not even in Scotland at the time, reports
The driver said: "Not only can I prove I wasn’t in Scotland, the photo on the PCN shows a completely different car.

"I’ve appealed against the fine, but Enterprise has already deducted a £35 administration fee for providing Aberdeen council with my details.
And the confused motorist has been further left in the dark over the incident.
They added: "The local branch can’t help, there’s no phone number for contesting the fee, and my email hasn’t been answered."
Aberdeen Council have now admitted to The Guardian that they made an error in noting the registration.

And Enterprise have now reportedly refunded the fee after the confusion.
A press office statement said: “Where there is an alleged traffic violation we rely on the information being passed to us by the relevant authority being correct.
"Details received from the council gave the registration of the vehicle which the customer had hired.”
While the registered keeper of a vehicle - such as a car hire company - is liable to pay any fines, they can pass the responsibility to the driver.
This is provided the customer signs an agreement to accept responsibility for PCNs incurred while they are at the wheel.
