We review the Peugeot 3008 SUV with E-Kick Scooter from price to economy and all its features

15mph E-Scooter comes with 3008

NOW here’s a car that fills me with puppy-dog enthusiasm.

It’s the Peugeot 3008 SUV and it comes with a 15mph fold-up electric scooter in the boot.

Park and ride, anyone?

11

The idea is that you drive to the station, take a train, and then ride the last mile to work, zipping past iPhone zombies on their dull daily commute.

11

Assuming wee Jimmy hasn’t nicked it to ride to school, that is.

The e-Kick scooter has a seven-mile range, recharges in an hour and folds up quicker than an origami blackbelt. It comes with a “docking station” in the boot.

Yours for £1,000 — with or without the car. Peugeot and scooter firm Micro will be selling them as an accessory from January.

So, what of the all-new 3008?

It’s good to see Peugeot has shrugged off those vanilla MPV looks and given us a strong five-seat family SUV crammed with much goodness.

Cover the Lion badge on the steering wheel and you’d think it was an Audi, it’s that posh. Peugeot has jumped two steps in quality here.

The digital dashboard (12.3in driver’s screen and 8in central touchscreen) comes as STANDARD on all cars and is super-slick. Piano-style keys shortcut to all of the major controls, there are three fragrance diffusers, massaging seats, Apple CarPlay, a three-pin plug socket and a list of driver aids as long as your arm.

Key facts: PEUGEOT 3008 SUV

Adaptive cruise control, hands-free parking, auto emergency braking, TomTom 3D satnav, SOS button and so on. By the way, that sporty steering wheel is smaller than anything you’d find in a Ferrari. In an SUV? Yup. And it works.

11

On the road, the 3008 is smooth, quiet and has a good blend of comfort and body control.
You can’t have 4WD, it’s only front wheel drive, but tick the box for Grip Control and it’s winter-proof. Grip Control is an electric traction control system that senses if a front tyre is slipping and diverts torque to the other. It will get you up and down a ski slope. And it comes with 18in wheels with M&S tyres, “not just any tyres” but all-season mud and snow tyres.

11

Prices from £21,795 for the 1.2-litre petrol turbo but I’d go for the 71mpg, 1.6-litre BlueHDi diesel (120hp) with Grip Control. That’s the sweet spot. That’ll be just over £23,000 when prices are confirmed in December — plus £1,000 for the scooter.

11

A bigger seven-seat 5008 SUV is on the way too.

VERDICT: Nice wheels, nice ride.
