Spacious family favourite

We review the Honda Accord Tourer from price to economy and all its features

NO firm can say their car is fit for a family until the Dorans have run the rule. Jon, Sheila, Jamie,20, and Christie, 18, and Alfie the labrador take no prisoners...

THE Honda Accord Tourer is the best car in the world.

It has the best carpet, the nicest smell and room to wag your tail.

And the Fat One says it isn't all that bad to drive either.

In fact the Fat One (Jon) and Mum (Sheila) have been quietly impressed with the big estate.

It looks good on the drive, handles well on the road and is really comfy and smart inside.

The runts (Jamie and Christie) have room to roam so everyone is happy.

Jamie Runt is my favourite at the moment because he decided to put his bike in the back of the car.

There was still plenty of room for me, but I gave it the big brown eyes and Mum said I could join the runts in the back on the comfy seats.

The Fat One wasn't best pleased so that was an added bonus. It also meant I could sit up and drool down the back of his neck if I see anything exciting.

Even if I had been forced in the back, it wouldn't have been too bad, because the Accord has the comfiest carpet I've sat on in ages.

The Accord is quite nippy for an estate — it manages 0-62mph in 8.4 seconds and goes all the way up to 141mph which makes everything blurry when you look outside. One second Ketchup the red setter is there — the next she's gone.

The Fat One says there will be a new model out soon, but the Accord is still a decent-looking car.

It doesn't look like a boxy estate — there are sleek lines and a sloping roof that make it pleasant on the eye.

And the 2.4-litre i-VTEC engine is smooth and powerful. It also gives you more than almost 31 miles to the gallon.

But, while the Accord Tourer is great for shopping and other load-lugging, it scores big points as a comfy family car with loads of space.

Inside it is very neat and tidy. The Fat One likes driving it. In fact the only down side is the price. The 2.4 i-VTEC is a bit pricey at £24,560, but it's a stylish motor with a neat smell and comfy carpets. What could be better?

In fact, like me, it could be considered the best in breed.
