I quit rat race & sold my home to live full-time in a blue van – I won’t move into a house… but there’s major issues

A MAN quit the rat race and sold his home to live full-time in a van - but had admitted it comes with major issues.
After selling his house, a blue van on sale caught Ricky's attention as a cheap alternative for a home.
In a video on , he gave a tour of the exterior and interior of the Ford Transit MK7 van he purchased 3 years ago, for a reasonable £4500.
The van is practically kitted out with two solar panels and an air-fan for circulation, and is fitted with gas.
But there are major issues... no TV, the less than ideal lack of toilet and shower facilities, and variable heating.
Ricky said: "My leisure battery unfortunately died not so long ago so I was stuck in here with no heating for a night.
"Again, if it breaks down, you can't stay in the garage forecourt so you have to seek accommodation.
"When things do go a little bit pear-shaped, which they do, you've just got to seek other accommodation and just adapt."
A small pump shower is less than ideal so Ricky makes efficient use of gyms and swimming pools for their facilities.
Ricky added: "You've just got to take the rough with the smooth."
On the other hand, his mindset has completely changed with the freedom that he has been granted from living a simpler life.
There are some positives to take from having a more transportable lifestyle.
Ricky said: "I've managed to travel more than I would have been able to with a house because I've not got that £500/600 coming out of my bank account - whatever it is these days.
"I've just got my fuel - as of yesterday, solar - so I've now got free energy.
"It's awesome! I don't have to pay for anything anymore and I just pay to get to where I live.
"That's fine by me - absolutely loving it."
Ricky said he prefers living in a peaceful environment away from the overwhelming "rat-race" of working in the city.
He added: "I can finally take time to do what I want to do really which is potentially taking some time off work and just enjoying it, instead of worrying what's going to come next month.
"It's lovely - living the dream!"
In the future, Ricky plans to stay living in his van for as long as possible.
Ricky is not the only person to have taken to the van lifestyle.
Shannon built her bright red van with just two tools and Liam and his wife jump between campsites in their converted campervan.
