The fiery fiasco took place on the afternoon of January 21 along Baker Street in Marylebone.

Thousands of pedestrians walk through the street every day and the footage shows plenty of startled onlookers.

The clip starts with a man in a bomber jacket and camouflaged trousers running to lift the boot of the vehicle.

With a bare hand, he lifts the Lamborghini's boot to reveal flames flickering from the engine.

Onlookers with shopping bags all hover and watch in astonishment as the priceless motor burns in front of their eyes.

One said: “It’s on fire.

“Lamborghini on fire on Baker Street.”

Another man with a backpack and a fire extinguisher runs onto the scene and promptly tackles the blaze.

The extinguisher creates plumes of smoke which now covers the car and the flames were successfully put out.

Pedestrians can be spotted recording the whole ordeal with their phones from the pavement.

The clip ends with a gloved hand picking up bits of foamy wire from beneath the bonnet.

Passersby spotted the disaster and were quick to comment.

Local Scott Walker joked: “That’ll polish out.”

Matthew Carter, who was in the area, quipped: “Caused by revving it stationary.”

A third quipped: “I thought it was a street barbecue.”

One cabbie laughed: “Hot Wheels.”

A woman, obviously not particularly sympathetic, said: “I will never feel sorry for someone who can afford a car like that.”
