Daring safari lovers can get closer to lions than ever in new see-through cages that big cats clamber all over
ITCHING to get that perfect snap on safari? Daring photographers can now get closer than ever to Africa's magnificent lions... and they might even crawl on top of you.
An innovative new transparent cage at a South African park will let you take pictures of the big cars as they peer down inquisitively on the people inside.
The team at conservation charity GG Conservation began offering the experience to raise money for their work caring for lions previously held in captivity, many of them in appalling conditions.
Gaps and holes placed strategically round the device offer visitors the chance to capture them from a range of new and inventive angles.
Suzanne, a volunteer at the charity, said: "The reason for the cage was to be able to make an income to enable us to keep the GG lions healthy, safe and protected in our lion sanctuary.
"We thought that if we had a professional photography cage we could attract more professional photographers here.
"The lions in the videos are extremely curious of the cage.
"All cats, big or small, love a box and they can choose to come close to the box or not it's their choice!
"Its a completely new way to see lions, from a totally different perspective, and also from a different angle, especially when one is sat on the plexiglass above you."
Video on GG Conservation's shows lions happily running and relaxing on a vast, green reserve.
The charity says up to 10,000 big cats, including lions, tigers, and cougars, are kept in captivity by private owners in the US alone, many without the care and space they need.

It also highlights that abuse and exploitation that exists in circuses, particularly in Europe and South America.
It says the costs of running the sanctuary have become a significant challenge, and that funds will help ensure that their lions continue to be well-fed and their facilities maintained and expanded.
