El Chapo’s nine houses, luxury cars and boats to be auctioned off for millions as drug lord rots in US supermax prison

THE Mexican authorities are selling off jailed Mexican drugs lord El Chapo's seized possessions for millions - while he rots in jail.

Luxury watches, homes, cars and boats that belong the cartel boss will go under the hammer at a government auction next week.

One of the nine houses being sold off is located in Culiacan, where Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman hid after his dramatic escape from prison in 2016.

The property, which has two floors and comes fully furnished, is being listed for £80,000 by the 'Institute for Returning What Was Robbed To The People.'

Another property, where the billionaire crook stayed whilst trying to avoid the Mexican army, is being sold for around £95,000.

The largest property is thought to have belonged to the mother of Ovidio Guzman Lopez  - who is the son of the ruthless cartel boss.

Guzman Jnr was collared in a police sting in October but later released due to the wave of violence which sparked his arrest.

The impressive house has three floors, 700 metres of land and is listed for more than £450,000.

It's reported most of the homes were once connected by tunnels - enabling El Chapo and his cronies to slip away secretly if needed.

Found in El Chapo's garages were sports cars including a Ford Mustangs, Jaguars and luxury Mercedes limousines.

Rodriguez Vargas, who is handling he sale, said: "This is a good opportunity for citizens and investors to buy a property for a good price."

He added proceeds from the auctions will be used to finance music sessions for children in the state of Oaxaca.

Guzman was caged for life in 2017 after being found guilty of trafficking cocaine, heroin and marijuana.

The leader of the Sinaloa Cartel also engaged in murder conspiracies during his time as the notorious drug lord.

Prosecutors say he made a staggering £10 billion running the world's biggest drug syndicate.
