The 60-year-old said the pair became aggressive when asked why they were ignoring government coronavirus advice to stay at home.

Footage shows one of the men picking up a large piece of wood and swinging it within inches of Geraint's head.

He only dropped the makeshift weapon when a woman filming told him he was on camera.

Geraint said: "It was unbelievable that somebody travelled all the way from Hull to the top of a mountain to camp with his brother when the whole country is on lockdown and the government clearly has instructed everyone to stay home unless necessary.

“They were asked to move the night before and told they weren’t supposed to be there but they decided to ignore that and the police had been informed. The police arrived the following morning and dealt with the situation.

“It was an intimidating situation to be in because they were being so aggressive and threatening without any need. I hope people realise that Wales is closed for all tourists and second home holiday makers until this is all over.”

The tourists are said to have pitched up on Friday night and started a fire - leaving mess strewn on the ground of the beauty spot, reports.

Geraint's daughter Heledd has also hit out at the pair for flouting official advice and threatening her dad.

She said: "The man in the video was from Hull. Over three hours away. He confirmed that to the police when they spoke to him afterwards too.

"The police were mortified. There were two of them, both from different households, were ignoring government advice."

Police confirmed they spoke to the men, who said they are currently living locally with family.

A spokesperson added: "They were given advice regarding not being at their home address, and requested to return home or face prosecution.

"The men apologised and left, and we consider the matter closed.”

It comes after Brits yesterday flocked to beaches and parks to enjoy the 22C Easter weekend - despite the government urging people to stay indoors.

In London the Royal Parks were full of sunseekers, while elsewhere in the country, groups headed to the beach to bask in the sunshine.

It came despite the number of people dying in the UK from coronavirus pushing the 10,000 barrier yesterday in a grim milestone.
