Smethwick stabbing – Young man, 20, killed and boy, 16, fighting for life after day of violence in Birmingham

A BOY, 16, is fighting for his life in hospital and another teenager was injured after an alleged double stabbing near a park in Birmingham.
Hours after the two teens were found with stab wounds off Marston Park, a 20-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Smethwick in a separate incident.
Police were called to reports that two people had been stabbed on Chapelhouse Road, Solihull at around 2.40pm on Sunday afternoon.
Two teenagers were rushed to hospital as an air ambulance was seen landing in a play area near Moorend Avenue.
A 16-year-old boy is in a critical condition while a 19-year-old man's condition has been described as stable by police.
Officers cordorned off nearby Marston Green Park after the incident.
West Midlands Police told the Sun Online a 14-year-old was arrested nearby on suspicion of attempted murder and has been taken into police custody for questioning.
Within two hours of the incident in Solihull, a 20-year-old was fatally stabbed in Smethwick.
Police launched a murder investigation after the man was found with serious knife injuries at the West Cross Shopping Centre at 4.40pm.
An air ambulance was called but the 20-year-old was pronounced dead before he could be taken onboard.
Detectives from the West Midlands Homicide Unit were at the scene carrying out quick-time enquiries in a bid to understand what happened and who is responsible.
Mobile footage of the incident is circulating on social media, but the police have asked for people not to share the graphic footage.
Det Insp Laura Harrison of Force CID, said: "Our thoughts go out to the family of the young man who has lost his life and we’re working to establish the circumstances around his death.
