Tom Brady to star in new ESPN documentary after success of Michael Jordan series ‘The Last Dance’

NFL star Tom Brady will be the focus of ESPN's latest docuseries, after the network's "The Last Dance" show on Michael Jordan proved a huge success.
"Man in the Arena" will be a nine episode-long series, produced by Gotham Chopra's Religion of Sports and Brady's recently formed 199 Productions, and will include first hand accounts from the quarterback.
The show will also include all nine of Brady's Super Bowl appearances with the New England Patriots and is set to air in 2021.
The 42-year-old, who signed a two-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in March after 20 seasons with the Patriots, said he was "excited".
"Through the series, we’re defining the key moments and challenges that were seemingly insurmountable, but through hard work and perseverance, became career-defining triumphs, in both victory and defeat," he said in a statement.
"This compelling and powerful show will entertain, inspire and have you on the edge of your seat. We can’t wait to share it with the world."
ESPN's executive VP of content Connor Schell said the network was "thrilled" to work with Brady.
"Nine Super Bowl appearances over the course of 20 years is an achievement on an unmatched level," he said.
"Gotham Chopra is a highly skilled filmmaker who I am confident will bring to life this story of an icon in a new and revealing way."
Jordan's The Last Dance was a huge hit for ESPN, pulling in an average of 5.65 million viewers over its 10 episodes.
after he promoted "immunity vitamins" during the coronavirus pandemic.
The six-time Super Bowl champ posted to Twitter on Monday to promote the "new clinically studied protective immunity blend" called PROTECT - prompting an avalanche of criticism.
The quarterback tweeted on Monday to announce the newest product from TB12sports - - which can be purchased on the company website for $45.
He wrote: "PROTECT is our new immunity blend supplement created to support a healthy immune system to help you stay strong."
The NFL star also took to to boast about the product.
He said: "Eating healthy, staying hydrated and being active in combination with the right supplements have helped me stay at my very best.
"Today I’m proud to announce the latest from @tb12sports to help us all stay at our best. Protect is our new immunity blend supplement created to help support a healthy immune system."
Although Brady didn’t mention the coronavirus, he touted the supplement's design for providing "exactly what you need to stay healthy, strong and resilient for whatever comes your way."
However, many social media users were dismayed to see Brady's push of the plant-based product into the coronavirus-stricken economy.
One Twitter user retweeted Brady's post and wrote: "Florida man attempts to stop coronavirus with home remedy."
Another: "Tom this is so disappointing. The marketing of this product is clearly playing on people’s fears over Covid and a belief that the immune system just needs a boost to recover from it.
The product's release comes as the number of coronavirus cases across the United States surpassed 1.5million and killed at least 93,867 people in the country.
