The new Fred and Rose? Police dig up home of paedo couple who were pals of The Wests amid fears they buried victims
Paedophile pair David and Pauline Williams were jailed for a total of 35 years in November for a campaign of rape, sexual abuse and beatings involving ten children over 13 years

AN evil couple who were pals of serial killers Fred and Rose West were last night feared to have also killed and buried victims.
Concerns grew as police began digging up the garden of their council home.
Paedophile pair David and Pauline Williams were jailed for a total of 35 years in November for a campaign of rape, sexual abuse and beatings involving ten children over 13 years.
Williams, 58, and his wife, 54, ran a pub near the Wests’ Cromwell Street “house of horror” in Gloucester.
He would pretend he could speak to the dead and terrify victims with stories about the Wests.
The notorious pair killed at least ten young women, including their own children, and buried them in their garden.
Yesterday forensics officers carrying shovels and pickaxes were hunting for clues after being told something was buried at the rear of the Williams’ home in the village of Bradninch, Devon.
The two-bedroom bungalow was where some of their abuse had taken place.
A neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: “I just hope we don’t get to see another Rose and Fred West scenario.”
There are striking similarities between the cases of the Williams and the Wests.
Both couples exploited and abused children over a long period of time, making them believe their behaviour was normal.
David Williams filmed himself raping victims — just like Fred West, who hanged himself in jail in 1995 aged 53.
Williams’ victims felt wife Pauline was under his spell — before her own cruelty emerged.
Cops searched the Wests’ home after social services said a child had joked about bodies being buried under the patio.
Officers found human remains in the garden.
Last night it was unclear who supplied the information that Devon and Cornwall Police acted on.
A spokesman said: “Police are undertaking excavation work at a property.
“It is expected to take up to four days to complete.”
The Williams’ abuse began while they ran the backstreet Prince Albert pub in Gloucester in 1991 — where Fred West was a regular.
It continued in Exeter and Tiverton, Devon, and in Bradninch after the pair moved there two years ago.
Williams was jailed for a minimum of 23 years at Exeter crown court after being convicted of ten rapes, 13 indecent assaults, five counts of gross indecency, two of cruelty, and one of sexual activity with a child.
His wife, who encouraged his abuse, was jailed for 12 years after being found guilty of two rapes and five indecent assaults.
Mum-of-five Suzanne Cox, 47, claimed one of her kids was at school with the pair’s grandchild.
She said: “They were an odd couple.
“I pray they don’t find anything at their house — as that would be too horrific to think about.”
‘Control freak was sex-mad’
THE pair were convicted of 48 crimes in total including rape, sexual assault and cruelty.
They preyed on six girls and four boys age seven to 15.
Controlling David Williams was “obsessed with sex” and filmed Pauline with other men and attacking some of the kids, a court heard.
He also filmed himself having sex with some of the female victims who had been lured to their home.
The couple initiated sex through games of strip poker and truth or dare, Exeter crown court was told.
Victims were robbed of their innocence and struggled with “nightmares, flashbacks and depression”.
One said in statements that Pauline may have been brainwashed by David but another branded her plain evil.
A probe began in July 2013 after a woman revealed to medics that David abused her when she was 15.
