Dramatic CCTV captures carjacker trying to drive away from Aldi with three-year-old boy in the back
Footage shows the toddler’s mum and his older brother both being forced out of the car while their dad shops

THIS is the terrifying moment a car thief attempts to drive off with a three-year-old boy in the back of the vehicle.
The shocking footage shows the toddler’s mum and his older brother both being forced out of the car while their dad was shopping.
The nightmare only comes to an end when the kids’ dad – holding a bunch of flowers - sees the car being driven away.
He immediately runs after the motor, jumps into the passenger side of the car and struggles with the man who was in the driver’s seat.
Police say the BMW then went on to collide with another car parked in the supermarket and the carjacker ran off.
The drama started just moments after the dad had parked the car outside an Aldi supermarket in Greater Manchester, leaving his family in the vehicle.
A man can be seen forcing the mum out of the car as she desperately tries to get her children to safety.
Her five-year-old son can be seen getting out of the car before it starts to reverse out of the space and the terrified woman looks on.
The three-year-old boy is still in the car as the man begins to drive away on Monday evening.
As his dad re-emerges from the supermarket with a bunch of flowers he immediately sees the danger and comes to the rescue of his son.
Police released the terrifying footage in an effort to trace the yob who carried out the attempted carjacking.
They say the “terrifying sequence of events” could have lasting “psychological implications” for the “courageous” family.
Detective Sergeant Shagufta Khan of GMP’s North Manchester division, said: “Fortunately, the family escaped the ordeal without injury and have been extremely courageous by helping us with the investigation.
“This terrifying sequence of events only lasted for a few moments but the psychological implications this could have on the whole family could stay with them for a considerable time.
“I am urging anybody who witnessed the incident to come forward with any information. There were a lot of vehicles and people in the area at the time so the chances are that somebody has seen something to help us with the investigation.”
Anyone with information should contact police on 101 and quote incident number 2114 of 16/05/16 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
