Apple is about to make some serious changes to your iPhone or iPad
Tech giant prepares to roll out iOS 10, a major update to its portable gizmos which will be unveiled at the highly anticipated annual WWDC 2016 conference in California today

Today marks a major celebration for all true followers of the Cult of Apple.
This evening, the faithful will gather near the tech giant's HQ for a major event called the Worldwide Developers' Conference.
Although this techie love-in is primarily aimed at the people who build software for all the various iGizmos and Mac computers, tonight will probably see Apple preach one piece of good news: the release of iOS 10.
This software powers all Apple's mobile devices, which includes the iPad and iPhone, and the latest version will give the gadgets some clever new capabilities.
However, not every iColyte will want to download the update, because there is a risk that it might not work with older devices.
What is iOS 10 and how will it change my life?
We're sad to report that tomorrow will probably be much the same as today, but with the promise of a few more functions for your Apple gadget.
The tech giant is notoriously tight-lipped about its announcements, but that doesn't stop rumours leaking out.
Apple bosses are likely to announce iOS 10 tonight and then make it available to developers tomorrow, before rolling it out to the general public later in the month or perhaps in July.
The operating system is likely to be designed with the iPhone 7 in mind, which is a big release because it's actually the 10th Apple smartphone.
What will Apple introduce in iOS 10?
It's been suggested that Apple's voice-activated assistant, Siri, is due for an upgrade.
It would appear likely that she will be given a wider range of abilities, allowing iPhone owners to control smart devices around their home simply by using voice commands.
Apple is rumoured to be beefing up the integration between Siri and Homekit, an app designed to "connect the products you use in your home — so you can privately and securely control them and make them work together".
It may also give Siri the power to automatically transcribe answerphone messages, meaning you might actually pay attention to them for a change.
What about Apple Music?
The tech firm's music app has drawn a fair bit of criticism for its slightly clunky design.
It would appear likely that Apple will decide to upgrade it in some way in iOS 10, perhaps refining the user interface.
Rumours also suggest it will place less prominence on the Connect service, a social media style system which allows users to 'follow' their favourite artists.

Will iOS 10 brick my phone or tablet?
Probably not, although there is a change it might not work with every single iPad or iPhone.
The last version of iOS was compatible with devices as old as the iPhone 4S and iPad 2.
