And the frontman — famous for the smash hit Merry Christmas Everybody — has made a Yuletide wish for a vaccine.

Noddy told The Sun: “As with everyone else, we can only ‘Look to the future now’.

“The best Christmas present any of us could get this year is a vaccine for this crazee virus.”

Noddy will be hoping Slade’s iconic festive tune will be played to millions again as it has for nearly 50 years.

He wrote and sang the hit, which is considered an anthem for December and was Christmas No1 on its release in 1973 — beating Wizzard’s I Wish It Could be Christmas Everyday.

The glam-rock icons reportedly share £1million in royalties each year from the song. In an interview, Noddy said of the tune: “To me, it doesn’t date — it seems to me as if it sounded as though it was recorded yesterday.”

Noddy’s Christmas intervention comes as Brits banking on Christmas to cheer them up amid the pandemic have started their festive sales shopping early.

Pre-orders for turkeys have soared already while millions of mince pies have already been snapped up.

Other seasonal items selling like hotcakes include Christmas trees, decorations, toys, advent calendars and hampers.

The spending spree, which started a month earlier than usual, follows on from the Easter and summer holidays effectively being “cancelled” this year due to the pandemic, shop bosses said.

At M&S, searches for Christmas jumpers, bedding and pyjamas have all tripled.

Slade’s Cum On Feel The Hitz - a collection of the band’s singles is out now on BMG.
