THE Canaries, the Maldives, Denmark and Mykonos have all been REMOVED from the quarantine list, the Transport Secretary said last night.

Grant Shapps said people returning from those countries would no longer need to self isolate from 4am on Sunday - but Denmark has their own rules for Brits and travellers will need a "worthy reason".

He said last night: "Following an assessment of the latest data, the Canaries, the Maldives, Denmark and Mykonos have been ADDED to the list.

"From 4am on Sunday 25th Oct, you will no longer need to self-isolate if you arrive from those destinations."

He also announced that Liechtenstein would be given fresh quarantine rules from 4am Sunday morning.

Fresh data from Liechtenstein shows the infection rate has jumped from 65.1 to 244.9 cases per 100,000 in the last week - a massive 276 per cent increase.

Mr Shapps said: "The latest data indicates we need to remove Liechtenstein from the Travel Corridors list.

"From 4am on Sunday the 25th October, you will need to self-isolate if you arrive from there."

The move is a boost for the travel industry.

Trade body Abta said: “After a terrible summer season, this is a bit of light at the end of a very dark tunnel.

“We have been highlighting the need to move to a regional approach to quarantine, citing the Canary Islands as a specific example, so it is good to see the Government take action.

“But we must remember that the pandemic brought foreign travel to a standstill and for most companies there has been little or no chance to start a recovery.”

Those hoping to head to Denmark will be sorely disappointed despite the promise of not having to quarantine on return to the UK.
