Man appears in court charged with rape and kidnap after a teenager was dragged out of a pizza Hut and attacked

A MAN who was charged with a string of offences including rape and kidnap after a teenager was dragged out of a Pizza Hut and attacked appeared in court today.

Costica Voedes was arrested and charged just hours after a 17-year-old girl was raped and stabbed in the stomach after being hauled to a nearby park.

The 32-year-old spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth before nine charges against him were read to magistrates.

Voedes did not enter a plea to the charges against him, which also include wounding with intent and was remanded in custody to appear before a crown court judge at a later date.

A member of staff at the takeaway restaurant in saw the events unfold and rushed out to intervene but they were attacked and injured in the process.

Police swarmed the area including a recreational area in Pound Lane, Epsom, Surrey, half a mile from the restaurant.

Shortly after 10.30pm on Friday, June 17, the 17-year-old girl was discovered and was rushed to hospital after suffering what was described as serious but non life-threatening injuries.

Voedes, of High Street, Epsom, was accused of two counts of wounding with intent, two counts of rape, false imprisonment, possession of an offensive weapon, affray and common assault.

He was remanded in custody following his hearing at South East Surrey Law Courts today in Redhill, and was ordered to appear before a judge at Guildford Crown Court on July 21.
