Prue, 80, said it was “painless” adding: “Who wouldn't want immunity?”

The Bake Off judge was praised by fans for sharing her experience on social media.

One Twitter user wrote: "Well done Prue. It doesn't hurt, protects the most vulnerable and works."

Another said: "Good on you, Prue, for being an example of reason and sanity!"

Last month, university student Peter Sawkins was crowned the youngest ever winner of the Great British Bake Off.
