TAKING three aspirin pills a week can slash the risk of dying from breast and bladder cancers, say researchers.

Tests suggest the drug combats inflammatory processes in the diseases.

But its long-term use can have harmful side- effects, experts warned.

They studied 140,000 US adults, mostly over 65, for up to 13 years.

Those with breast cancer who took aspirin at least three times a week were a quarter less likely to die.

Survival rates for bladder tumour patients were boosted by a third.

Any aspirin use cut the risk of death by 21 and 25 per cent compared to those who never had it.
