BURNING UP

Mum horrified after Aldi lotion left her five-year-old daughter’s face ‘burning’

A MUM was left horrified after an Aldi lotion left her little girl's face "burning and covered in blisters".

Rochelle Jeffery, 35, has hit out at the supermarket after claiming the Lacura moisturiser - bought for £1 - caused "welts" across five-year-old Bonni Rae's face.

She told The Sun: "Last week, I bought a cream from Aldi.

"It was just a random buy - I happened to be in there, and I wanted it for myself."

The bottle of lotion was branded as "suitable for sensitive skin", she said.

"When I got home, I put it on the side," Rochelle said.

"My little girl Bonni Rae saw it and put some on her face.

"Within seconds, she said, 'Mum, my face is burning'.

"She was crying and really upset and in pain."

Rochelle said the little one's face was soon covered in blisters.

As the mum rushed to help, her 10-year-old daughter Beau applied the lotion to her own face - and said it had burned her too.

"I rang my mum up and she told me it was probably a chemical burn, and to keep water running on it," she said.

"Within ten minutes, we'd managed to stop the burning.

"But even after that, you could put your hand in front of Bonni's face and feel the heat coming off her."

Rochelle, of Sevenoaks in Kent, called Aldi following the incident - but was furious at their response.

She said the cream must be taken off shelves altogether to keep others safe.

"I spoke to them and they kept trying to palm me off," she said.

"They offered me £20, but it's not about that.

"Imagine if you put the cream on a little baby?

"It could have been so much worse."

Both little girls have now recovered fully, she said.

When approached for comment, Aldi said they had recommended Rochelle seek a referral to a consultant dermatologist following her complaint.

An spokesperson for the supermarket told the Sun Online: “We were sorry to hear about the Jeffery family’s experience. Our skincare range is rigorously tested and we have received no other similar complaints about this product.

"As with any cosmetic products, there is always the possibility of an individual intolerance to a particular ingredient.”
