ABSOLUTELY NOISY

Giggling grannies banished from cinema for laughing too much at new Ab Fab film

The pair were told to 'laugh on the inside' before being asked to leave the North London cinema

Two grannies, known as the real Patsy and Eddie, were thrown out of a cinema showing the Absolutely Fabulous film - for LAUGHING too much.

Grandmother Jacqueline Cox, 60, and great-grandmother Cindy Amass, 59, were booted out of the comedy film because the cinema manager said they were making too much noise with their laughter.

The pair, who are known to their friends and family as Eddie and Patsy, were asked to be quiet, then told to leave after the manager hid round the corner to listen to their hysterics.

It was the first week of the cinema release of the new Absolutely Fabulous film starring Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders as characters Patsy and Eddie.

The visit to their local Islington Vue cinema was Cindy's first day outside in a year, after suffering a heart attack.

Cindy, who has 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild, said: "The film is so funny, obviously that's why we went.

"I had a heart attack and Jacqui's daughter bought us the tickets, as I'm like her aunt and she wanted to do a nice thing for me.

"We weren't laughing that loudly, but it is a funny film, it's not like we were watching Schindler's List or anything serious.

"It was really embarrassing, no one was asking us to be quiet until the manager came over and was talking to us, then people started shushing.

"It's very disappointing, I'm quite upset, I have been very ill and not been out for a long while.

"It's ruined my day out, I got my hair done for their first time in the year, but now it's really knocked my confidence, I'm not sure I want to go out again."

The humourless manager didn't stop at just throwing out Jacqueline and Cindy, he also ousted two men who also found the film just as hilarious.

Jacqueline said: "I just couldn't believe it, it's a hilarious film.

"We'd grown up watching them and were really looking forward to it.

"The manager said we had to laugh on the inside.

"I said 'what the hell does that mean?'

"That just made us laugh even more.

"There were two young men in front of us they also asked to leave.

"I couldn't believe what I was hearing, I don't know what their problem was.

"The manager said he had been standing round the corner near the fire exit to listen to us and said we were making too much noise.

"He was quite aggressive and was waving his hands in my face, he was being a bit intimidating, then he called security over, I was getting quite nervous.

"He said 'it's my cinema, I say who stays and who goes'.

All four of the ejected cinema-goers were given full refunds, then went to a bar round the corner together.

Vue have been approached for a comment.
