'I DON'T WANT TO FLY AGAIN'

Passengers horror after Jet2 plane makes emergency landing in Glasgow immediately after take-off due to technical fault

PASSENGERS said they are 'not sure they want to fly again' after the mid-air horror at Glasgow airport this morning

PASSENGERS have told of their horror after a Jet2 flight from Glasgow to Spain made an emergency landing immediately after take-off.

Brits have described the terrifying mid-air ordeal after suspected pitch control issues caused the plane to declare an emergency moments after leaving the ground.

Passenger Adam Rowe shared his terror on Twitter, saying: "Thank God we landed safe - the pilot and crew were first class - not sure I want to fly again :( #GlasgowAirport #Jet2."

Thankfully the plane landed safely and all passengers and crew disembarked without harm, but Glasgow airport is now closed with all flights currently on hold and planes diverted following the morning drama.

Adam, who was flying to Palma de Mallorca to be best man at a friend's wedding, told the : "I don't like flying and suffer from panic attacks.

"I was listening to music while we were taking off - I'm not too sure what happened but I heard we were turning around to land again and the panic attacks started kicking in."

The terrified flyer described the crew and captain as "top class" and added: "I'm just happy we're safe."

Photos uploaded on social media show the plane surrounded by fire engines on the runway after the horror experience.

Twitter user CelticLover shared a photo of the grounded plane with the caption "something going down at Glasgow airport".

Pixiedust0423 posted a photo of the plane on Instagram, writing: "Someone's vacation isn't getting off to a good start. #GlasgowAirport #SafeTravels #HopeTheyreOk."

Another passenger, Alison Storm Fitzsimons Gregor, posted an account of the experience on Facebook.
She said: "Take off then diverted back to Glasgow with technical fault - terrified.

"Only in the air for about 15 minutes. Guess a fault light has come on.

"Worrying thing is we will get an update 'once they know what is going on'.
"Suspect maybe needing another plane. I think I'm going to have a drink."

Passengers will be moved onto a Boeing 757 to continue their journey to Palma de Mallorca.

The plane returned to Glasgow after flying in a holding pattern above the airport immediately after take-ff.

The pilot landed safely and the plane has now been towed with a fire engine escort.

Itt was a Boeing 737-800 aircraft with two jet engines involved in the incident and was scheduled to leave at 7am, arriving in Spain at 11am.

A spokeswoman for the airline said: " A Jet2 flight from Glasgow to Palma reported a small technical fault and was diverted back to base as a precautionary measure.

"The aircraft has landed safely and passengers will shortly be transferred onto a replacement aircraft.

"We apologise for the delay to the start of our customers' holidays but their safety is our absolute priority."
