PHONING CHRIS?

Top Gear host Eddie Jordan pictured apparently on his phone while behind the wheel

PHOTOS appearing to show the former F1 boss on a grey iPhone emerged a day after Chris Evans quit

DAMNING photos show Top Gear host Eddie Jordan apparently talking on his phone while DRIVING - the day after unpopular Chris Evans quit the show.

The Motorsports legend was allegedly pictured on a slip road of the M25 holding a grey iPhone against his ear - just a day after co-host Chris Evans announced he was leaving the show.

It comes after the plagued revamp of the popular motoring show pulled in its lowest viewing figures since 2003.

Phil Eskriett, 28, was driving with a friend and admiring the flash BMW M2 driving beside them - only to be shocked when they realised the TV star was behind the wheel.

Top Gear fan Phil, of Addleston, Surrey, said he immediately recognised the host as he overtook the Black BMW on Tuesday at around 5.45pm, not too far from the TV show test track.

He said: "We were coming off the M25 at Staines when I was checking out the new BMW M2 and realised it was Eddie Jordan.

"Eddie was on the phone the whole time, he didn't even care and kept looking at me and my mate."

Phil said he was certain the driver was the Formula One boss, but couldn't believe someone linked to motorsports would risk his license so brazenly.

He said: "He's been on Top Gear, he's someone who drives cars and he's on his phone on the motorway. It doesn't look good.

"We could have been the police or anyone. I reckon he was probably on the phone to Chris Evans who just left the show."

Those caught driving while on the phone can be hit with a maximum fine of £1,000.

Surrey Police are aware of the incident and are investigating.

A Spokesperson said: "Anti-social driving can cost lives and using a mobile phone while behind a wheel could lead to three penalty points and a fine of £100.

"If you refuse to pay the fine you could be prosecuted, banned from driving and fined up to £1,000.

"If officers can prove you are driving dangerously while using your phone you can be banned from the road and jailed for up to two years."
The BBC have declined to comment.
