British couple holidaying in Nice are safe, family say after fearing the worst following horror attack

A HOLIDAYING British couple caught up in last night's horror attack have been contacted and are safe, their family says.
Relatives of Ross and Carol Annie Cowan, from Helensburgh, Dunbartonshire, had launched an appeal for information after being unable to contact the pair following the disaster.
Carol Annie's sister, Amy Stanton, grew concerned after her family last spoke to the 27-year-old on the phone at 9pm UK time – an hour before tragedy struck.
She reported her sister and her husband, 30, missing to the UK Foreign Office and launched an urgent appeal on Facebook.
However, this afternoon she posted a brief update, stating: "CAROLE AND ROSS ARE OK!!!"
She added the couple were travelling home from Nice tonight.

The carnage unfolded after a lorry ploughed through thousands at around 10.30pm local time during Bastille Day celebrations.
Within half an hour scores lay dead or dying after driver Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel's murderous 40mph rampage, during which it is reported he screamed "Allahu Akbar”.
Carol Annie is a primary school teacher, while Ross works as a tree surgeon.
Amy originally posted on Facebook: “Urgently looking for Carole Annie Cowan and Ross Cowan who were at Nice.
“They are a Scottish couple in aged 27 and 30. They have been unavailable to reach since the attack.
Carole has long blonde hair that you cannot see in this picture.
“Please contact myself if anyone sees them. 07455986446 or this Facebook account. Thanks.”
