Milly Dowler killer Levi Bellfield investigated over murders of Lin and Megan Russell

SERIAL killer Levi Bellfield is being investigated over the hammer murders of Lin and Megan Russell.
He has told pals he is “in trouble” over clues that could link him to the 1996 horror.
A fresh witness is understood to have reported seeing a beige Ford, like one Bellfield drove at the time, speeding away from the scene in Chillenden, Kent.
Bellfield — serving life for killing 13-year-old Milly Dowler and two women — also fears his alibi for the Kent murders may have been undermined by his former girlfriend.
We revealed last week that a key piece of evidence, a bootlace, had been rediscovered by cops after being lost for 14 years.

DNA tests on the lace could prove once and for all if Michael Stone — jailed in 1998 for beating to death Lin, 45, and her six-year-old daughter — is guilty. Josie Russell, then nine, survived.
The Criminal Cases Review Commission confirmed an inquiry had begun. Kent Police said they were happy with Stone’s conviction.
Bellfield, 52, and Stone, 60, are in different wings of Frankland Prison, Co Durham.
