As well as the beating his dark blue shirt was torn at as he tried to unveil his anti-Trump sign.

Two men then intervened and got him away from the worst of the punches before police arrived and escorted him out.

reports the area’s police chief Chris Raubenstein said the protester denied medical attention and did not want to press charges.

Chief Raubenstine added: “People got to realise that just because you disagree with someone, doesn't mean you can punch people.”

But the police chief said the protester has the right to bring charges later.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump did not mention the attack when he tweeted later: “Just leaving Mechanicsburg, PA. Incredible crowd-- so enthusiastic! Will be back soon. ”

Trump was later in a bit of trouble himself when he told reporters in Virginia that when he flew over the industrial town of Harrisburg in his private plane he thought it “looked like a war zone”.

Responding in a statement, the city’s communications director Joyce Davis said: “Mr Trump has made an unfortunate mistake in disparaging Pennsylvania’s capital city after a mere glance from the window of his airplane.

“Harrisburg is renowned as the heart of our commonwealth and a capital of unique beauty and charm.

“Mr Trump should know that Harrisburg and its residents are an integral part of the United States, which he is vying to lead.”
Monday night’s rally was certainly not the first time Donald Trump’s supporters and protesters have fought at rallies.

They include a mass street brawl in California after a speech in San Jose at the beginning of June, with protesters upset about his anti-Mexican policies – including a plan to build a wall on the America-Mexico border.

Many activists set Trump hats on fire and pelted his supporters with eggs as well as holding up banners.

And also in June 20-year-old Michael Steven Sandford was arrested for allegedly trying to grab a cop’s gun to shoot Donald Trump.

The British man has pleaded not guilty to charges including two counts of firearm possession.
