Horrified mum watched LIVE on Skype as son was attacked in his own home by masked man

Tomasz Martynus fought off attempted robbers with a golf club and a coffee cup

A MUM watched in horror live over the internet as her son was attacked by a masked man brandishing a knife.

Nottingham man Tomasz Martynus, 44 was chatting to his mother in Poland via Skype on Saturday when the raider got into his bungalow.

Tomasz, who lives alone, was punched to the floor by the intruder armed with a 20cm kitchen knife in what police believe was an opportunist attempted robbery.

He said: “I screamed at my mama to call the police. I was so afraid of what was happening.

“All the drinks from the table fell on the floor with me and then I found a coffee cup. I picked it up and I hit him in the chest or face.

“I did not know what they wanted from me. I screamed at him in Polish and the man with the knife looked into my eyes for a few seconds.

“It was all so quick. I think I hit him with a golf club but I am not sure.”

The attack took place at Tomasz's home in Balderton, Nottinghamshire. He chased the intruders out into the street despite a back injury.

Despite a back injury sustained at work which affects his movement, he fought back in his bungalow in Balderton near Newark, Notts, as his terrified mother watched the drama.

The two men fled into the street with Tomasz following, he tried to flag down a passing motor cyclist and a car but none of them stopped.

He added “My mother believed I was dead. For days I had to tell her to stop crying and that I was Ok. It was like a movie.”

A Nottinghamshire police spokesman said they were treating the crime as attempted robbery and assault and want to trace the passing drivers.

The man with the knife was at least 5ft 9 inches tall with olive skin and may have suffered injuries to his arm, chest and face.

The accomplice was about 5ft 3 inches and also wearing dark clothes.
