Labour MP Frank Field in fraud plea in bid to turn up the heat on ex-BHS boss Sir Philip Green
MP for Birkenhead meets with Serious Fraud Office in attempt to increase pressure on billionaire tycoon

CAMPAIGNING Labour MP Frank Field has met the head of the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) in a bid to turn up the heat on BHS tycoon Sir Philip Green.
The veteran Labour politician – who branded Sir Philip “evil” last week – is pushing for the SFO to probe if laws were broken when the colourful Topshop billionaire sold BHS, leading to its collapse.
Mr Field described his talk with SFO head David Green as "constructive".
The Birkenhead MP said: "The meeting with David Green was constructive. I was reassured by the tone of the discussions and the approach the SFO is taking.
"They, of course, operate independently and we assured them again of our absolute non-interference; we will simply send them all the evidence we have not published to consider and use as they will."
Last week Mr Field said Green was "responsible for the destruction of 11,000 jobs, putting 22,000 pensions at risk".

Green owned BHS for 15 years before selling it to serial bankrupt Mr Chappell for £1 in 2015.
He has come under fire for taking more than £400million in dividends from the chain, leaving it with a £571million pension deficit and for selling it to a man with no retail experience.
The SFO has so far held back from launching a formal probe into BHS's demise.
