The Sun explains the background to the war that has spread from the streets of Dublin to the Spanish seaside claiming the lives of at least eight people

A DEADLY feud between two warring Dublin crime families today claimed the life of an innocent Irishman in Majorca.
Blameless Trevor O'Neil was shot in the back four times as his wife pushed their baby in a pram down the street.
Tragically the victim had by pure chance earlier been talking to a known associate of the Hutch mob before the attack.
A source told The Sun: "It looks like this guy was totally innocent. He chatted for a minute to a Hutch associate, little realising who it was.
“Just the usual small talk conversation Irish people have when they met for the first time on holidays.”
Police on the Spanish island have now put the brutal slaying down to a horrendous case of mistaken identity as the bloody war between the Hutch and Kinahan clans wares on.
But who are these two tribes of gangsters and what has sparked the feud which lead to today's tragedy?
Here The Sun explains the background to the war that has spread from the streets of Dublin to the Spanish seaside claiming the lives of at least eight people.

The Hutch Family
The Hutch's are lead by Gerry "The Monk" Hutch who began his criminal career at the age of just 10.
Now in his fifties he has lead his gang to amass a fortune in ill gotten gains from crimes including bank robberies, jewel heists and fraud.
The mob are now one of the most feared gangs in Ireland and have been linked to a raft of crimes.

Guerin ascribed him this nickname for his "disciplined lifestyle" adopted after he was freed from prison in 1985.
The journalist was later murdered by a drug gang in Dublin in 1996.

Hutch admitted his role in the crime and agreed to pay €200,000 in cash to spare his life.
But the Kinahan's demanded they pay the same amoutn again shortley after and then executed Hutch on September 24, 2015.
