Brian Laundrie’s dad found son’s personal items within MINUTES after suddenly telling cops they wanted to search reserve
BRIAN Laundrie's father Chris found his son's items within minutes after he and his wife Roberta began cooperating with police to find their fugitive son.
More than a month since Brian vanished after returning home without his fiance Gabby Petito and after receiving calls to cooperate with police in the search, Brian's parents joined authorities in the hunt on Wednesday only to find their 23-year-old son's belongings within minutes of walking in.
The Laundrie family lawyer Steven Bertolino told reporters that Brian's parents had previously told authorities to search the area where they believed Brian to be - and where they found his belongings.
"Chris and Roberta Laundrie were at the reserve earlier today when human remains and some of Brian’s possessions were located in an area where they had initially advised law enforcement that Brian may be," Bertolino .
"Chris and Roberta will wait for the forensic identification of the human remains before making any additional comments."
Bertolino later that Laundrie's parents were with two officers spread out on either side of the trail in that location.
It was then when Brian's dad Chris found a bag with Brian's belongings inside, and an officer on the other side of the trail found a backpack that was found near Brian's remains.
News Nation Now reporter Brian Entin what Bertolino had told him regarding Brian's possessions and his parents' decision to join the search efforts.

"His clients realized the reserve was back open and told him that they wanted to come out here and search for Brian," Entin recalled Bertolino saying, adding the lawyer told authorities to meet the Laundries at the reserve at 7AM on Wednesday.
When his parents showed up at the reserve, and that's when Chris found one bag and officers found the other near the swamp where Laundrie's human remains were discovered.
The day before, Laundrie's parents had taken their longest journey out of the house, taking a circuitous route where they went to a Walmart and an AT&T store for five hours among other locations before returning home.
Laundrie's parents have yet to comment on the discovery of their son's remains, which the FBI confirmed belonged to Laundrie after looking at dental records.
Their lawyer however spoke of the loss suffered by both the Petito and Laundrie families. Petito's family and outspoken father Joe have vowed to speak out at a later date.
"There are two young people that have now lost their lives," Bertolino said. "These are parents that are suffering.
"Now, I understand that whatever happened or whatever didn't happen," he added. "This is tragic for two families."
"And anybody with a child, and anybody with a sense of humanity can understand the frustration that both families feel on that point."
