The frank announcer on the South West Trains explained the delay was due to a couple of "d***heads" throwing rocks

The Bournemouth to Waterloo service last night was first delayed near Southampton airport about 5pm, reported.

Once it finally began moving, he explained a group of yobs had thrown rocks, smashing a window and causing a 10 minute delay.

He announced: "This is all down to, if you will forgive my profanity, a couple of d***heads throwing rocks at the train just before Southampton Airport."

Later on in the service, he explained the delay again for the benefit of new passengers.

"This is due to the train coming under attack at Southampton Airport", he said. "Some pond life down there with the intellectual capacity of a flip-flop threw rocks at the train."

And when the service finally reached Waterloo around 7pm, he labelled the vandals a group of "muppets".
