Rust crew member ‘held Halyna Hutchins in his arms while she was dying’ & blames armorer for Alec Baldwin shooting death
A RUST crew member has recounted holding cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in his arms "while she was dying" and blamed the armorer on set for her shooting death.
Sergey Svetnoy – the chief electrician, also known as the gaffer, on the New Mexico set – took to Facebook on Sunday to open up about the tragic death of his 42-year-old friend and fellow crew member Halyna Hutchins.
In a , Sergey revealed his decision to explain what happened during the prop-gun mishap comes after he "received many calls from different mass media sources from multiple countries asking to tell what happened."
Sergey detailed what happened in the moments after Alec fired a prop gun that was "loaded."
He wrote: "Yes, I was standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Halyna during this fatal shot that took her life and injured the director Joel Souza.
"I was holding her in my arms while she was dying. Her blood was on my hands. I want to tell my opinion on why this has happened. I think I have the right to do it. It's the fault of negligence and unprofessionalism.
"The negligence from the person who was supposed to check the weapon on the site did not do this; the person who had to announce that the loaded gun was on the site did not do this; the person who should have checked this weapon before bringing it to the set did not do it.
"And the DEATH OF THE HUMAN IS THE RESULT! I'm sure that we had the professionals in every department, but one - the department that was responsible for the weapons."

Halyna's succumbed to her injuries in an incident that occurred just before 2pm PT on October 21, 2021.
Her death was confirmed by Santa Fe County officials that same day when the department's revealed in a statement that two individuals were shot during filming.

And the armorer who handled the "loaded gun" on the Rust set had previously handed a gun to a child while working on another movie and was called "inexperienced," reports claim.
Sergey used his post to express how "dangerous" his job can be – especially after the prop gun that was fired was one of three placed on a cart by the film's armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed.
He added: "We film in the mountains, in the open water, underwater. We have explosions, shooting guns, car crashes, electricity after all, and much more.
"To save a dime sometimes, you hire people who are not fully qualified for the complicated and dangerous job, and you risk the lives of the other people who are close and your lives as well."
Sergey concluded his post with an urgent message to producers.
"Dear Producers, by hiring professionals, you are buying peace of mind for yourself and the people around you," he wrote.
"It is true that the professionals can cost a little more and sometimes can be a little bit more demanding, but it is worth it.
"No saved penny is worth the LIFE of the person!"
Following the tragedy, Alec broke his silence and released a statement.
Alec said: "There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours.

"I'm fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family.
"My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna."
