McDonald’s leaves customers fuming after chicken legend removed from menu amid supply chain issues

MCDONALD'S have left customers clucking mad after removing the Chicken Legend from menus across the UK.

Fast food fans are furious after being unable to purchase the popular fried chicken burger amid chaos with supply chains.

Customers slammed McDonald's as "out of order" and "psycho" amid the shortage, with one Chicken Legend lover even threatening to RIOT for the sake of the sandwich.

Amid the outrage, McDonald's announced that "supply chain issues were impacting availability" of the highly-sought after treat, forcing them to remove it from the menu.

But fear not - as those who can make it to one of the restaurant chains can still grab a Chicken Legend.

"We apologise for any inconvenience, and thank our customers for their continued patience," McDonald's said.

"We are working hard to return the item to our delivery menu as soon as possible."

It seems the fast food giant had to take it off their delivery menus across the UK and Ireland in the short term to keep some reserves on standby.

However, some Maccie's fans couldn't help but vent their frustrations online regarding the shortage.

One tweeted: "HOW DARE @McDonalds TAKE THE CHICKEN LEGEND OFF THEIR UK MENU AM ABOUT TO KICK OFF!"

"Who's blimmin idea was it to take Chicken Legends off the menu? I'm stuck now cos I'm a fussy sod," another added.

A third hilariously chimed in: "McDonalds have taken the Chicken Legend off the menu and that is my villain origin story."

"I think I’m having Chicken Legend withdrawal symptoms," one joked.

McDonald's previously angered customers in June after the hugely popular Chicken Selects vanished from menus.

Big Flavour Chicken Wraps and the Chicken Deluxe Burger, both of which contain Selects, also disappeared amid a nationwide shortage.

McDonald's confirmed at the time that the problem was "temporary" but its restaurants might completely run out for a time.

They even stopped serving their notorious milkshakes at their 1,250 UK branches amid supply issues.

A combination of a lack of HGV drivers, navigating post-Brexit rules and congestion at global trading ports is wreaking havoc across industries.

It is not the first time chicken has bore the brunt of the disorderly supply system - Nando's was forced to shut around 50 restaurants after running out of chicken earlier this year.

Seventy staff members had to be sent to factories to help suppliers hit by a crippling shortage of workers, The Sun revealed.

KFC also had to close some outlets and alter its menu due to the poultry problem.
