My Christmas was ruined after DHL ‘sent me two Cadbury chocolate bars wrapped in loo paper’ instead of a £1,000 iPhone

A DISGRUNTLED customer was shocked to find two Cadbury's chocolate bars in DHL delivery instead of a £1,000 iPhone that was meant to be a Christmas present.
Despite the two-week delivery delay, Daniel Carroll from Leeds was excited to get the Christmas present but instead has been left disappointed at finding two £2 chocolate bars wrapped in toilet roll in the package.
Daniel Carroll unpacked his parcel on Monday, December 20, and found two 120g Cadbury Oreo White Chocolate bars wrapped inside the toilet roll, instead of his £1,000 phone.
The logistics worker said that the delivery of the £1,045 iPhone 13 Pro Max was delayed numerous times over two weeks before he was able to collect it from his local DHL warehouse.
However, Daniel became suspicious when he collected the parcel and noticed the tape had been tampered with.
He said that couldn't believe his eyes when he opened up the box and realised his iPhone was nowhere to be seen and replaced with bars of chocolate.
The delivery company has said they are investigating the matter and have asked the sender to send out a replacement phone to Daniel.
Daniel posted about the incident on Twitter about the furious experience.

He wrote: "After a long weekend of a brand new iPhone 13 Pro Max being stuck in @DHLParcelUK network, failing any delivery attempt Friday-Sun, I finally picked up the parcel yesterday from DHL Leeds to find the package tampered with and the new phone (Christmas present) replaced with this.”
A Twitter user replied: "Oh my god this is dreadful! I’m the same. My parcels are ‘lost’ in Leeds and no one will reply to me!"
Daniel said: “I ordered the phone on December 2 through the Apple website, but due to stock the earliest day for delivery was December 17.
“Last Friday on the day it was due to be delivered I had several conflicting updates from DHL.
“At first it said ‘out for delivery’, then scanned as ‘delayed’, then back to ‘out for delivery between 13:45-14:45’. I stayed in all day and nothing arrived.
"I went onto the tracking and selected to have the parcel collected from their depot, and it advised it would be available for collection on Saturday.
However, he said the tracking information had not changed the following day and DHL's website advised that the Leeds warehouse was temporarily closed.
Daniel continued, saying: “On Monday I did a 24-mile-round-trip to collect the parcel. When I got home I could tell the box had been tampered with as the tape was quite loose, but because I could feel some weight I just opened it.
“Inside there was cheap industrial toilet roll, which stunk, and two bars of Dairy Milk Oreo in there.”
'REALLY DISAPPOINTING'
Daniel, who works for a logistics company said that the entire process was unusual.
He added: “The tracking updates on Friday when the parcel was with a driver weren’t what you would usually see. Then the parcel went from Friday morning to Monday morning without a tracking point.
“I work for a logistics company and knowing DHL, there’s no reason why the parcel should not be tracked as received back at the depot during that time unless it’s being manually taken out of its usual process.
“I rang DHL however there is no option to speak to someone, just an automated tracking update. I submitted an enquiry on their contact page on Monday, which has never been responded to.
“I DM’d them on Tuesday which hasn’t been responded to either. Via LinkedIn, I managed to get the attention of a customer service manager who advised they’re checking CCTV.
“They had also asked Apple to issue a replacement and for Apple to claim through DHL.
"However, I rang Apple on Wednesday and they have not received any response from DHL, even though they raised an investigation with them on Monday. Apple won’t issue the replacement without the outcome of the investigation.
“I asked the manager from DHL on Wednesday if he can follow up again today, but there seems to be just no urgency to resolve this.

“It was meant to be for a Christmas present so it’s really disappointing.”
A spokesperson for DHL Parcel UK today (FRI) said: “We're investigating the case as a priority and we have been in touch with the sender to ensure a replacement gets to Mr Carroll."
