The teen, who cannot be named for legal reasons, rocked back and forth in the dock with his head in his hands during the court proceedings.

The teen, from Merseyside, had previously denied the claims of his little sister, who told police about her sibling's "disgusting and yucky" crimes.

Prosecutor Charlotte Kenny told the court: "He protested his innocence. When they got home, he was seen to punch the wall in anger."

The victims' mother told the court how she feared her youngest children would now be tormented by the abuse in the future.

Kenny said: "She details how her family changed forever following that disclosure."

Experts said the teen had attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, "conduct disorder" and "substance abuse disorder".

He admitted to raping and sexually assaulting his sister as well as pleading guilty to two counts of rape against his brother, .

The court also heard how the 15-year-old was already struggling with drinking too much alcohol as well as taking drugs.

But the teen's defence Andrew McInnes told the court that the 15-year-old had "below average intelligence" and could not properly comprehend the implications of his crimes.

This is I suppose a real classic example of what sadly happens when one person within a family commits offences on other family members. It just tears the family apart.

Judge Steven Everett

Judge Steven Everett said he hoped the young children's memories of the crimes would fade.

He said: "This was a terrible thing. Despite all your difficulties at 13 or 14, and no doubt all of the difficulties of growing up, in terms of hormones and sexual approach of a teenager, you would have known that what you did was wrong.

"This is I suppose a real classic example of what sadly happens when one person within a family commits offences on other family members. It just tears the family apart.

"One can only have huge sympathy for your mum. How does she deal with this?"

He said it was highly unlikely the teen would see his siblings again, saying an adult who had been found guilty of the crimes would have been sentenced to at least 15 years in jail.

The teen cried as he was given four years and nine months behind bars.

He will also be on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
