His apartment is just a 10 minute walk from the £2.2 million five-bed house he shares with his wife and children

KEITH Vaz was last night unable to explain how he paid almost £400,000 in cash for his “sex flat.”

The millionaire MP purchased the two-bedroom property mortgage-free earlier this year.

Land Registry documents reveal he is the sole owner – despite being married.

His sparsely-furnished apartment is just a 10 minute walk from the £2.2 million five-bed house he shares with his wife and children.

It is also the location for his alleged sordid party with two rent boys.

The mystery as to how he managed to afford the flat and his reasoning for the purchase has deepened as his lawyer claimed it was bought with a “personal loan.”

Lawyer Mark Stephens refused to confirm whether the loan was from a friend or a bank, instead responding it was a “traditional lender.”

He said the loan would be repaid once the house inherited from his mum in 2003, in Uppingham Road, Leicester, was sold.

Mr Stephens added: “It has been on the market for three months and has been sold subject to contract.”

However, the house occupants reportedly had no idea it was under offer or for sale.

They said they moved in just two months ago and had a one-year tenancy, paying £750 a month through an agency.

Mr Stephens said the occupants were definitely leaving in three months and claimed there was no agreement in place for them to stay another 12 months.
