Philip Green hides behind a pillar to try and avoid snappers while on holiday with his daughter in Monaco

The shamed billionaire has insisted he is working "every day" to fix the BHS mess he created

SIR Philip Green has been spotted hiding from his problems on a luxury family holiday in Monaco.

The shamed tycoon ducked behind a pillar to avoid photographers after claiming he was "working every day" to clear up the BHS pension mess.

But Green - branded Sir Shifty- was still pictured in the posh French city where his £100 million yacht is docked.

The billionaire released a statement on Friday apologising to BHS staff and insisting he was putting the effort into finding a solution.

He batted off claims he is trying to wriggle out of stumping up cash after BHS was left with a £571million pension deficit when he sold it to Dominic Chappell for £1.

The controversial sale left 11,000 people out of a job after more than 100 shops were shut nationwide.

He said he has been co-operating with the pensions regulator for about 18 months and “providing whatever has been requested on a very regular basis”.

But the buisnessman looked relaxed as he wandered the streets of Playboy paradise Monaco in shorts and a t-shirt.

His heiress daughter Chloe Green, 25, was also snapped enjoying herself in the principality.

The pair looked as though they needed a rest after partying with pals days earlier in lavish scenes that angered unemployed BHS staff.

The 64-year-old was seen dousing friends and Chloe with bottles of £35 Veuve Clicquot champagne on his 300ft yacht.

The Green family have enjoyed a summer in the lap of luxury with holidays around the world, while sailing around on the super yacht.

Lionheart is the family’s third vessel and is the length of a football pitch with jacuzzis, a swimming pool and a helipad.

Over the summer, they have been pictured on board swanning around the Greek islands, the Italian Riviera and the island of Malta.

In the statement from his yacht last week, Sir Philip denied media reports he has attempted to pressure or blackmail the pensions regulator, and took aim at veteran Labour MP Frank Field.

“Mr Field suggested in the House of Commons on Wednesday there was a lack of willingness on my part to reach a settlement with regard to the pension fund. This is untrue, totally inaccurate and unhelpful in solving this issue,” Sir Philip said.

The MP has asked the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) to launch a formal investigation into both Sir Philip and Mr Chappell to determine if any criminal wrongdoing occurred during the sale of the chain and throughout their respective ownerships.
