MEDIA executive Chris Licht was named CNN's CEO and president when Jeff Zucker stepped down from the position.
A year after replacing Zucker, Licht parted ways with the network as well.
Who is Chris Licht?
After graduating from Syracuse University in 1993 with a Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science, Chris Licht went on to become the founding executive producer of Morning Joe - an early morning news and talk show featuring Joe Scarborough.
In 2011, Licht was named the Vice President of Programming at CBS News.
The same year, he published a book entitled What I Learned When I Almost Died: How a Maniac TV Producer Put Down His BlackBerry and Started to Live His Life.
He had suffered a near-fatal cerebral hemorrhage the year prior.
He later moved on to his position as the executive producer of CBS This Morning, which launched in 2012.
Licht was also the executive producer for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

On June 7, 2023, it was revealed Licht and CNN decided to part ways.
CNN Films chief Amy Entelis is serving as his interim replacement.

Previously, on February 2, 20222, Zucker announced he was resigning from his previous position as standing president of CNN.
"As part of the investigation into Chris Cuomo's tenure at CNN, I was asked about a consensual relationship with my closest colleague, someone I have worked with for more than 20 years," he said in a statement.
"I acknowledged the relationship evolved in recent years. I was required to disclose it when it began but I didn't, I was wrong."
