PARLIAMENT could still block the EU exit by refusing to repeal key legislation, Brexit Secretary David Davis revealed last night.
The Tory veteran said Britain would still be bound by EU directives unless it dumps the European Communities Act 1972.
But Mr Davis said voters had given the Government a “very, very, very clear mandate” that the Lords would be “quite unwise” not to take seriously.
His call came as the Lords said the Government should not trigger Article 50 to start Brexit without their backing.
Advisors had earlier said PM Theresa May could trigger it without a vote.

But Mr Davis called the Lords’ proposal extraordinary and said it would set Parliament against the people’s will.
Mr Davis also refused to reveal EU exit negotiating tactics and said his job was “to get the powers back.”
He said he had been told Britain must accept free movement of EU migrants to stay in the single market.
Belgium’s former PM Guy Verhofstadt, negotiating Brexit for the European Parliament, said the two were “inseparable.”
But Mr Davis said he wanted the best deal for the British manufacturing and service industry.
