A TOP NHS surgeon who was recorded calling Asian colleagues “vile” has won a three-year fight to save his career.
Clinical director Peter Hale, 58, was accused of racial prejudice for blasting “sub-continent elements” who objected to hospital rota changes.
Mr Hale, believing he was speaking privately, hit out at three Pakistani doctors and an Indian at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton after an angry meeting.
He said of one: “Chill pill? He needs a good slap.”

His words led to a sacking for misconduct.
But a disciplinary panel in Manchester ruled he was not racially prejudiced.
It said: “This incident in isolation did not reach the threshold for serious misconduct.’’
